RW: Hi, I’m Rachel Wright, and today I’m on-site at one of Mohawk’s Virtual Healthy Life Centers. Virtual medicine may sound a little bit out there, but it’s actually just a different application of technology like Facetime or Skype that most of us are already using on a regular basis. The Virtual HLC is another way to receive quality care and take advantage of the good benefits available to you as a Mohawk employee. Let me show you what I mean. When you visit the Virtual HLC, you won’t be alone. A nurse will check you in. Then, over at the kiosk, you’ll be prompted to enter some information and swipe your driver’s license. The nurse will take your vitals and assist the provider during the visit the same way they would if the provider was in the room. The only difference is that you will communicate through a secure kiosk instead of meeting with them in-person. For instance, if I was coming in with an ear ache, our visit might go a little bit like this. Provider: How can I help you today? RW: I’ve been having some pain in my right ear. Provider: Oh sure, I’m sorry to hear that. How long has it been going on? RW: All of your information is protected and the same HIPAA regulations for regular visits apply to virtual medicine. And as always, you still have access to on-site HLCs too. The next time you’re feeling under the weather or you need to see a doctor for a non-emergency issue, don’t forget about the Virtual HLC option.
